The former Celtic manager is a top, top man…
JOE has often wondered what we would be like if we were allowed to manage our favourite football teams.
Upon receiving the job we would make grandiose promises to our chairman of titles, qualifying for the Champions League and tiki-taka football. In reality we would probably be relegated, play hoof-ball and send the club into a Leeds United like financial spiral.
9-year-old Bolton Wanderers fan Thomas Fielding wasn’t pleased with how his side were performing on the pitch this season and he took it upon himself to apply for the vacant position at the Macron Stadium after Dougie Freedman’s departure.
Thomas didn’t pull any punches in his application to the board after calling the Bolton players “unfit and overweight” yet despite his clear qualifications the board opted for Lennon’s Scottish title winning and Champions League experience.
Thomas obviously had no hard feelings about the decision and Lennon was more than happy to meet him for a photograph and a talk about tactics we presume.
JOE reader Sean McNeilly brought this to our attention and it’s just class.
