Martin Ferris was due to undergo surgery on Tuesday morning.
Irish jump jockey Martin Ferris has posted an image on Twitter showing the extent of the injuries he suffered to his left leg following a fall in Galway on Monday.
Ferris fell from his horse, Golden Rebel, during the Ennis Lifts Handicap Chase and was taken to University Hospital Galway.
It was subsequently confirmed by Dr Adrian McGoldrick, the Turf Club’s senior medical officer, that Ferris had fractured his left fibula and tibia and he was due to undergo surgery on Tuesday morning.
Ferris posted an image of the X-ray of his left leg on Twitter on Monday evening and we should warn readers who get squeamish about this kind of thing that it does not make for pretty viewing.
Thanks for all the well wishes, unfortunately I have 9 fractures and operation in the morning pic.twitter.com/HJ3j8iCIsJ
