Pic: Irish rugby player suffers what’s probably the worst ear injury we’ve ever seen (Graphic content)

Oh. Dear. God.

Conor Heneghan

Be warned, this is not for the squeamish.

Injuries are part and parcel of any sport and given the level of physicality in rugby, all players will suffer a nasty one or two throughout their careers.

There’s nasty, however and then there’s the injury sustained by Davy McGregor while playing for Heriot’s Rugby Club against the Barbarians in Goldenacre in Edinburgh last night.

The former Ulster hooker told us this morning that he sustained the injury in a tackle when his ear was caught by the hip or the shorts of an opposition player.

However it happened, his ear looked like this afterwards. It was not good (don’t say we didn’t warn you)…

Davy was on his way to the plastic surgeon this morning to get the injury assessed but was still in good spirits; fingers crossed it all goes well for him.

Ouch.
