Best keep your seat on that gravy train Jamie.

The Premier League today negotiated its TV rights deal for the 2016/17 – 2018/19 seasons and the figures involved are simply staggering.

How expensive? Well, £5.136 billion, that’s right, £5.136 BILLION, over three seasons. Yep, that expensive.

Sky and BT secured all seven packages available, with Sky set to broadcast 126 live Premier League matches over three seasons, with BT broadcasting 42 matches over the same period.

The figure is a 70% increase on the Premier League’s previous contract and will also see the introduction of live matches on Friday evening.

Those games will be broadcast by Sky, who also secured Saturday afternoon (12.45pm), Sunday afternoon, Monday evening and Bank Holiday packages.

No matter which way you look at it, the figures are truly astounding and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher certainly knows the way his bread is buttered.

Might be time to ask for a pay rise Jamie.
