The Special One was living up to his nickname...

The Special One was living up to his nickname…

There are certain words that football fans would use to describe Jose Mourinho and they usually aren’t a million miles away from the truth.

Charismatic, successful, arrogant, brash, intelligent, meticulous, rebel, troublemaker, winner and legend all spring to mind.

One thing that’s rarely seen in the high pressured world of football though is just how kind and decent the Chelsea manager can be.

Mourinho has previously offered incredible help and friendship towards the cancer stricken referee Mark Halsey during his recent battle with the illness and who can forget the scenes when Oran Tully from Dublin got to meet his heroes and their manager.

Ahead of Chelsea’s League Cup quarter-final clash Shrewsbury, the Blues’ manager took the time to meet an 11-year-old Shrews fan named Lloyd Burton who is suffering from cancer.

Burton is massive football fan and was once a promising player but is now confined to a wheelchair after a course of chemotherapy on a brain tumour last year.

The 11 year old was delighted to meet Mourinho and he even had a picture which the Special One signed during their meet-and-greet prior to kick-off. The painting will now be auctioned off in a bid to raise money towards installing a lift and facilities in Lloyd’s home.

It may be a small gesture but hopefully this meeting and autograph can go a long way towards helping Lloyd.

Fair play to Jose Mourinho.
