There’s no doubt about it that Kilkenny’s Henry Shefflin will go down as one of the greatest players to ever play hurling and rightly so, no one could against that.
King Henry picked up his tenth All-Ireland winning medal last weekend which puts into context how long he’s been playing at the highest level. But to be exact about it, Shefflin has been a mainstay of the Kilkenny team for sixteen years.
The interesting thing about being an intercounty player for that period of time is that players who eventually make it onto the panel will have been looking up to you for a long while.
