This weekend showed once again that if you’re going to play rugby for a living then you’re going to have to be prepared to be on the end of some pretty hard knocks now and again;
just ask Mike McCarthy after the shoeing he got from Ian Evans during Leinster’s clash with Ospreys on Friday night.
While McCarthy got a fair amount of treatment after being caught on the floor during a maul and his face was streaming with blood afterwards, it arguably pales in comparison to the cut lip suffered by Lyon’s Lachie Munro during a Pro D2 encounter with Narbonne yesterday.
How Munro suffered the injury we’re not quite sure but from the looks of things, it could well have been a stud that did the damage because we’re struggling to think of any other way in which his lip could end up in such a horrible state.
Ouch.
