This isn’t for the squeamish so if you’re put off by the sight of gruesome injuries we suggest you look away now.
This weekend showed once again that if you’re going to play rugby for a living then you’re going to have to be prepared to be on the end of some pretty hard knocks now and again; just ask Mike McCarthy after the shoeing he got from Ian Evans during Leinster’s clash with Ospreys on Friday night.
While McCarthy got a fair amount of treatment after being caught on the floor during a maul and his face was streaming with blood afterwards, it arguably pales in comparison to the cut lip suffered by Lyon’s Lachie Munro during a Pro D2 encounter with Narbonne yesterday.

How Munro suffered the injury we’re not quite sure but from the looks of things, it could well have been a stud that did the damage because we’re struggling to think of any other way in which his lip could end up in such a horrible state.
Ouch.
