Pic: Meet the man that wore the Supermac’s bag-hat to the Mayo v Galway match

The man and his hat have become famous…

Oisin Collins

Soon to be the most famous Irish hat since The Edge’s black beanie.

Some of you may remember our story about the Mayo man who was spotted wearing a Supermac’s bag as a hat during Mayo’s 1-15 to 2-08 win over Galway at Pearse Stadium on Sunday.

Here’s a look at the original pic…

Well, we’ve heard from the man in question’s son, Simon Murphy, and he told us the novel hat was MacGyvered by his dad to keep his scalp away from sunburn.

Speaking to JOE, Simon said: “The Mayo fan with the Supermac’s bag for a hat at the football yesterday is my father Denis.

“He can’t believe how many likes and shares his picture has been getting! The Supermac’s bag-hat is now famous and will be at every Mayo game.”

We asked Simon why his dad used the bag-hat in the first place…

“He forgot to take his hat with him from my car, and as he’s thinning on top he didn’t want to get his head sunburnt.”

Mystery solved.

Now make sure to keep an eye out for Denis and his now famous Supermac’s bag-hat at every upcoming Mayo game.

Massive thanks to Simon Murphy (pictured holding the Supermac’s bag-hat) for sending this our way
