I’d never begrudge any footballer the incredibly money that comes their way because after all, they put in years of training, dedication and sacrifice to make the grade at the elite level.
There’s also massive sacrifices that Premier League footballers have to make but I understand the mentality of certain fans that feel like footballers can be out of touch with reality.
That’s why I really love this image of Crystal Palace’s Norwegian defender Brede Hangeland just waiting around to get the train like a normal member of the public after Crystal Palace’s 4-1 win against Charlton Athletic.
This isn’t the first time that Hangeland has shown that he’s a man of the people, When the defender got married, rather than giving presents, guests were asked to contribute to a Save the Children project to build a school in Cambodia. £45,000 was raised.
He seems like a really down to earth bloke.
