No Super Bowl L…
Call us old fashioned, really old fashioned in fact, but we loved the fact that Super Bowls were denoted with Roman numerals. Super Bowl XLVIII (the last one) wasn’t just a cool name, it looked cool too. Look.
Now, with the fiftieth Super Bowl looming large, the NFL have revealed the logo for the San Fran shindig in early 2016. And the big news is the Roman numerals have bitten the dust.

The NFL’s vice president of brand and creative, Jamie Weston, said that her team had come up with 73 different versions of the logo over the last year but they felt that standalone ‘L’ just didn’t work.
The good news for us traditionalists is that once we get to Super Bowl 51, the numerals will be back.
