Pic of the day: Dr Crokes’ Ambrose O’Donovan comforted by fan after defeat to Castlebar Mitchels

The agony vs. the ecstacy.

Castlebar Mitchels reached the All-Ireland Club SFC final after a hard fought 3-13 to 1-11 win over Dr. Crokes of Kerry on Saturday afternoon.

The Killarney side were dealt a bad blow only 18 minutes into the game when frontman and talisman Colm Cooper had to be taken off injured.

Crokes were only a single point in arrears at the half-time whistle, but they faded badly as the second half progressed.

Mitchels, on the other hand, were inspired by a half-time teamtalk from An Taoiseach Enda Kenny and went out to score 2-06 in a rousing second half showing.

Paul Durcan got two of the Mayo side’s goals, with Tom King grabbing the other, while Crokes’ only effort to hit the back of the net came from Kieran O’Leary.

Mitchels will now go on to face either St. Vincent’s of Dublin or Derry’s Ballinderry in the final in March.
