PIC: Philly McMahon pays a lovely tribute to the late ‘Batman’ Ben Farrell after Dublin’s victory over Kerry

Well played Philly.

Dublin fans will remember their epic All-Ireland semi-final victory over Kerry for a long, long time but, sadly, it came too late for one of their biggest fans of all.

Five-year-old Ben Farrell, known as ‘Batman’ Ben as he was such a big fan of the caped crusader, sadly passed away earlier this month after a brave battle with a rare form of kidney cancer known as Wilms’ tumour.

Ben was a massive Dublin GAA fan and after a campaign in the build-up today’s game, supporters inside Croke Park paid tribute to his memory with a round of applause after five minutes.

After the game, Dublin corner-back Philly McMahon paid his own special tribute to Ben from inside the Dublin dressing room, where Ben was very much in the minds of the players after an epic win.

What a lovely touch.
