It’s still hard to believe.
Not since THAT handball by Thierry Henry has there been such a level of indignation in Ireland at a sporting event than at Michael Conlan’s exit from the Olympic Games on Tuesday afternoon.
Conlan himself was outraged and expressed as much in the most honest post-fight interview you’ll ever see.
To say there was a shocked reaction to Conlan’s defeat to Vladimir Nitkin of Russia would be the understatement of the century, as the Belfast boxer lost by unanimous decision despite appearing to be in complete control of the fight.
The national broadcaster even abandoned any sense of impartiality with the tweet below shortly after the decision was announced, but you won’t find anyone in the country who would disagree.
