Pic: Someone or something was shining down on Ian Madigan as he kicked a penalty against France

What a picture

What a picture.

Ireland were the better team when beating France at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday and so calculated is Joe Schmidt as a coach that he has almost eliminated the possibility of luck or other external factors affecting Ireland’s results these days.

Even though it wasn’t needed, Ian Madigan had some inspiration from above when he came on as a brief replacement for Jonathan Sexton in the second half.

Or at least he appeared to have in this perfectly-timed picture he put up on Instagram earlier today.

Of course, Paul O’Connell is also in the shot and some Munster and Ireland fans will tell you that the man is God reincarnated so maybe that’s where the light came from.

Still, if divine intervention is what’s required in Ireland’s search for the Grand Slam, then long let it continue.
