Pic: Steven Defour will be wearing shinpads featuring the faces of himself and his girlfriend against Arsenal tonight

We’ve been around the block long enough to know that footballers can be a pretty vain bunch at the best of times, but Steven Defour has raised the bar with the shinpads he’ll be wearing for Anderlecht against Arsenal in the Champions League tonight. One of the Belgian midfielder’s pads will feature a picture with his own face depicting him as a king and the other will feature his girlfriend Laura Tropea as a queen and while they admittedly look pretty cool, it seems to be taking things to extremes considering that they’ll be hidden behind his socks and that nobody will actually get to see them.

Besides, we’re not sure if Defour’s missus will be too keen on the idea of her portrait getting kicked repeatedly by Arsenal players throughout the evening, we’ve a feeling it might become particularly well-acquainted with Jack Wilshere’s studs in Belgium tonight. Hat-tip: Bleacher Report
