PIC: The BBC cause outrage by omitting Robbie Keane from a ‘selected top scorers in international football’ list

People are not happy

Conor Heneghan

He’s only scored the 67 goals in fairness lads.

Wayne Rooney became England’s all-time leading goalscorer thanks to a penalty in England’s Euro 2016 qualifier win over Switzerland last night.

As you’d expect, the Manchester United striker’s record at international level was the subject of comparison with the records of other greats of the game who have or had similarly prolific records while representing their country.

The BBC put together a list of ‘selected’ international goalscorers with which to compare Rooney’s record and you’ll probably the notice the omission of a certain Irish striker.

A man who is the fifth most prolific international goalscorer from a European country of all time and whose record is far more impressive than that of Rooney and the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

In fairness to the BBC, it was a ‘selected’ list of players but a helluva lot of people weren’t happy about Robbie’s omission and they weren’t shy in letting the BBC know about it.
