Marist College won their second consecutive Connacht Schools Senior Rugby final today, under a very ominous cloud.

Galway is no stranger to a bit of inclement weather so it is not that surprising that today’s Connacht Schools Senior Cup final was played under an angry looking sky but this snap, from the good folks at Setanta, shows just how dark and heavy that cloud was.

As for the game, a Barry Goode penalty put the Athlone school ahead after 18 minutes. That was followed 10 minutes later by a Harry Hughes try. The holders led 13-0 at the break and while Garbally finally got off the mark via a Sean Horan penalty, and got within touching distance thanks to a Jack Codyre try, a Robbie McMicken try killed the game off for Marist.

The final score was 23-11.
