Pic: The travelling Polish fans in Georgia are very proud of their Irish roots

This is such a class gesture...

This is such a class gesture…

While all Irish eyes will undoubtedly be on Glasgow this evening for Scotland v Ireland there are a few other big games in Group D.

World Cup winners Germany are hosting the group whipping boys Gibraltar while Poland are (currently) leading 2-0 away to Georgia.

The Polish community has become very prominent in Irish society over the last decade and the bonds between the two countries became even stronger during Euro 2012.

This JOE was in Gdansk and Poznan for the tournament and had the best craic imaginable. Polish people really know their beer and vodka.

JOE reader Tom Moloney sent in this image from the game in Tbilisi and it seems that the travelling Polish fans are still proud of their Irish rots even when surrounded by their fellow countrymen.

Now, in fairness, the fans in question could just be using a flag that they made for a previous Ireland vs. Poland game in Dublin, but we like to think differently. How do you say ‘Come on You Boys in Green in Polish’?
