Pic: There is only one hurling club in Scandinavia and they have a bloody gorgeous jersey

Swede as a nut* *Sorry

Conor Heneghan

We like it, we like it a lot.

You have to be a tough nut to play hurling and with that in mind, we imagine you have to be an even tougher nut to play it in Scandinavia, where temperatures tend to drop a lot lower than a cold January afternoon in Thurles.

The Viking Gaels, whose ‘parish’ (in the loosest sense of the word) includes Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Estonia, identify themselves as the only hurling team in Scandinavia and they have a jersey befitting being the only hurling club for many thousands of miles.

We came across the jersey when club member Philip O’Toole got in touch with us as well as some high-profile GAA members during the week seeking to spread the word and to attract members from hurling and GAA fans in that part of the world.

Needless to say, we want that piece of kit as soon as possible.

Is there a better jersey out there in the GAA at the moment? Nor-way! *JOE goes to get coat
