The phrase ‘World Champion Andy Lee’ has a nice ring to it.

It’s been a helluva week for the Limerick man; after his devastating TKO of Matt Korobov on Saturday night, Lee will be given a rousing welcome at a civic reception in his home city this evening. Lee has rightly been lauded far and wide since Saturday night and he seemed particularly happy to have made the front cover of the highly-regarded Boxing News magazine this week, where he features alongside Amir Khan, following his victory over Devon Alexander at the weekend. There’s already word of Lee facing the likes of Miguel Cotto or Canelo Alvarez in the near future, but whatever happens, big things lie in wait for one of the soundest men in Irish sport. Here’s hoping they bring the house down when he shows his face in Limerick tonight.
