PIC: This photo perfectly sums up what GAA means to a father and his little girl

Eoghan Doherty

The picture says it all…

Win or lose, families will be there for each other at the end of tough matches. This below picture, sent into us by Paul McGarry, shows exactly that.

Here’s what Paul had to say…

Hi JOE,

Anyone involved in sport knows how heartbreaking it can be, particularly club football. Attached is a pic from the recent All-Ireland JFC Final in Croke Park, where one of our local teams, Ardnaree Sarsfields lost out to the Kerry Champs Templenoe.

For any team to get that far is huge (and due respect to them all), in terms of commitment and drive so we can fully understand the utter heartbreak of Ardnaree player, Pat Lacken, but his daughter Aoibhe’s distraught face says it all.

Even though I am deeply involved with the other club in town, Ballina Stephenites, this picture painted a thousand words that any GAA fan will understand – Club is everything.

I have to say that this photo got to me, not least of all because that little girl calls to our door selling lotto tickets for her beloved club, but because it is her Daddy that needs her most just then.

As touching as the above image is, Paul also added one more picture to his email, writing…

P.S. Also liked the second photo doing the rounds in Mayo currently!

Thanks Paul, for both pictures.
