Pic: This is how Donegal GAA players do a dry January

The Donegal senior panel would be proud…

January is a month that most GAA players dread because pre-season usually returns and the weather around Ireland turns from fecking freezing to bloody baltic.

Of course all the hard work, sacrifice and dedication is 100% worthwhile as soon as that first ball is thrown-in but christ almighty is pre-season tough.

The gripe of GAA players up and down the country isn’t the freezing conditions or endless laps though but rather those two dreaded words, ‘beer ban’.

The merits of a solid few weeks away from the drink is usually seen in the business end of the club championships when the medals are being given out which is why these lads from Donegal are taking their pre-season very seriously.

These guys all play for Ardara and Glenties respectively but they’re currently training in Dublin and it appears that the lads are firm believers in former Donegal manager Jim McGuinness’ mantra of “commit, focus, achieve, believe.”

We hope that’s a low-fat milk lads or else you’re all going to be standing on the sidelines.
