Pic: This Mayo fan was wearing the best homemade hat we’ve seen at a GAA match

A magnificent piece of Mayo millinery

This brings a whole new meaning to ‘greasy hair’.

Mayo muscled their way past Galway today, defeating the Tribesmen 1-15 to 2-08 at Pearse Stadium.

Some spectators might say that Finian Hanley’s calamitous own goal was a contender for the funniest moment of the match, but JOE reader Louise Orla spotted one Mayo fan who beat the Galway’s full-back to the comedy punch.

The man in question was pictured wearing an upside down Supermac’s bag on his head.

That’s right, you read that correctly; the Mayo fan was wearing an upside down Supermac’s bag on his head.

Who knows why he was wearing the upturned fast food bag on his noggin?

Maybe he was protecting his scalp from the glare of the sun? Perhaps he had to eat his hat if his team lost? Or maybe he just likes the feel of a half-eaten Smokey Bacon burger resting against the top of his head?

If you can shed any more light on the mystery man in question, please do let us know.

And the award for Best Dressed goes to…

Mayo hat 1

Mayo hat 5

Mayo hat 4

Thanks to Lousie Orla for sending this our way.
