PIC: Ulster’s tribute to Anthony Foley was well received by the Munster faithful

A nice touch from Ulster…

Munster snatched an unlikely victory in the Kingspan Stadium in Belfast last night as they came from 14 points down to defeat Ulster by 15-14.

Ulster were 14-5 up at half time thanks to tries from Charles Piutau and Rob Little, both of which were converted by Paddy Jackson. Rory Scannell touched down in the corner for Munster on 39 minutes but Ian Keatley couldn’t convert the difficult sideline conversion for maximum points.

Munster will have been disappointed that their first half performance didn’t earn them a greater reward than five points as they did a lot of things well in the first 40 minutes.

But they were to turn it around in the second half with a try from South African Jaco Taute who barged his way over from close range with Scannell nailing the extra two points.

Then for the second time in the space of a week, the game in Kingspan Stadium was decided by a late drop goal as Scannell showed a bottle full of nerve to slot the match winning three points.

It wasn’t the prettiest game by any stretch of the imagination and far from the emotional performance against Glasgow a week ago but it was a tremendous win for this Munster side.

At the end of the day though, rugby is just a game and a little over a week ago, Munster and Ireland bid farewell to one of the greatest servants of the game in Anthony Foley, and Ulster showed true class in honouring him last night.

Fair play…
