What are the chances?

The possibility of any sequence of six numbers coming out of a lotto draw is a very slim one; it’s why very few people win any variation of them, including local GAA club lotto draws.

That said, there’s something hilarious about the fact that the winning numbers in the last lotto draw of 2016 by Aodh Ruadh GAA Club in Ballyshannon in Donegal turned out to be 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.

Funnier still is that somebody actually went and picked them!

The winner was revealed in Aodh Ruadh’s club notes (kindly sent our way by Frank Craig of the Donegal Post) this week as Noelle Downey of Higginstown, who claimed the jackpot of €7,700 in the process.

Interestingly, as is also pointed out in the club’s notes, it’s the first time that sequence of numbers has been drawn since the club lotto started in 1995.

We’re sure Noelle’s victory is entirely legitimate, of course, but some might think they’ve seen something like this before…
