It was a great night to be in Boston. The Red Sox won their third World Series in 10 years, beating the St Louis Cardinals 6-1 to take the title 4-2.

After the Boston marathon bombing in April, the city got behind their baseball team as a symbol of Boston strength and that bond helped push the team from the worst team in the sport last year to champions this.

As always, celebrations for fans and players were pretty wild but the best snap of the night was this one of Red Sox main man David Ortiz in the locker room.

One of the chief voices in the ‘Boston Strong’ campaign, Ortiz has been with the Red Sox for over a decade and has been there for all three World Series wins. A fearsome designated hitter, Ortiz, known as Big Popi, was on fire in the World Series, hitting home runs in Game 1 and 2 and he finished the six games with a batting average of .688, which is insanely good.

Those numbers earned him the Most Valuable Player award and the 37-year old celebrated in some style after the game, drinking from an enormous champagne bottle, with the addition of goggles to protect his eyes from the spraying champagne.
