He’s got you there Piers.
Gary Lineker and Piers Morgan engaged in their latest Twitter spat today after Morgan had enraged a large element of the sporting community with some typically controversial comments on Tuesday night.
Just can't get excited by Silver & Bronze medals.
You win or you lose.
Gold is all that matters. #Olympics2016— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) August 10, 2016
Following Michael Phelps’ latest gold, Morgan suggested that it is the only medal that matters and he received plenty of flak overnight and again on Wednesday from the likes of Olympic swimmer Chris Walker-Hebborn, Matthew Pinsent and others.

Gary Lineker joined in on the debate this afternoon and before long, Morgan was throwing a few jibes in his direction about his own career.
@KellySotherton @TeamGB being in the top 3 in the world in your sport is a great achievement. You do spout some nonsense, Tubs.

Winning is a great achievement, Jugs. Anything else is losing. https://t.co/cxmCYSicQ5

Utter codswallop, spoken by a bloke whose sporting highlight is running to square leg when facing a quick bowler. https://t.co/enbikEVQoC

FYI @GaryLineker – my greatest sporting achievement was getting @BrianLara out for 0. Followed by beating @serenawilliams at tennis.

Ah bless! Not quite an Olympic medal but I'm sure you tried your best, Tubs. https://t.co/KPQgD7oMfl

After a bit of back and forth between them, Lineker summoned up an old chestnut (not for the first time) to soften Morgan’s cough.
Yes. But team players prefer to win the biggest team trophies & you never won any of them. https://t.co/Os9ibZiOm5
— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) August 10, 2016
Admittedly they will never match your 'Hacker of the year' award but I gave it my best shot. https://t.co/OlO8GqNZEg

Zing.
Lineker 1, Morgan 0.
