Kilkenny too strong for Galway, Monaghan and Armagh must do it all over again plus wins for the hurlers of Waterford and the footballers of Tyrone, Cavan and Carlow…

After the draw last Sunday, Kilkenny and Galway faced each other in the replay of their Leinster Hurling Championship semi final this evening and it was the Cats who came on on top by 3-19 to 1-17. TJ Reid put in an incredible display for Kilkenny scoring 2-11 including a late goal which sealed the win.

Kilkenny now go on to play Dublin in the Leinster Final while Galway must go the qualifier route where they face another huge test in the shape of Tipperary.

Speaking to the All Ireland Hurling Qualifiers, Waterford beat Laois in Round 1 tonight. We predicted a close game but the Deise came through on a scoreline of 2-22 to 1-15.

We’ve seen teams build momentum in the qualifiers before and every game is going to stand to the young players Derek McGrath has put his faith in so it’ll be interesting to see how far they can go.

There was a huge game in the Ulster Football Championship this evening as Monaghan and Armagh went head-to-head in the semi final and they’ll have to do it all over again as it finished 0-14 to 0-14 at the Athletics Grounds.

Armagh scored the last three points of the game including a Rory Grugan stoppage-time free to level it. You’d imagine Monaghan will have learned their lessons from today and to be honest, we didn’t expect that from the Orchard County.

There were also three games in the All Ireland SFC Qualifiers Round 1B today. Tyrone made light work of Louth beating them by 17 points on a scoreline of 2-21 to 0-10. Carlow scrapped past Waterford in the opening game of the day, that finished 0-17 to 1-13 in favour of the Leinster side and Cavan had just one point to spare over Westmeath as that finished 1-15 to 1-14.
