GALLERY: Mel Gibson and his impressive beard were at the Aviva for Ireland v Australia on Saturday

Better luck next time, Mel.

Nobody who was at the Aviva Stadium last night to witness Ireland’s thrilling victory over Australia will forget it in a hurry, not even Mel Gibson, whose compatriots ended up on the wrong side of a 27-24 defeat.

Gibson, as you may know, has been spending a lot of time in Ireland recently filming The Professor and the Madman, an adaptation of Simon Winchester’s 1998 bestseller, The Surgeon of Crowthorne.

He’s been getting out and about during his time here and was recently spotted enjoying the FREEEEEDOM of the Sugarloaf mountain in Wicklow.

Judging by the snaps from the Aviva, that beard is getting more magnificent by the day.
