Rest in peace, Axel.
Munster Rugby and the wider sporting community remains in mourning following the sudden and devastating loss of Anthony ‘Axel’ Foley at the weekend, a giant
described as “an incredible man” by his friend and former team-mate Ronan O’Gara.
Tributes flowed in from all over once the news emerged on Sunday and in Paris, where Munster had been due to face Racing 92 in the Champions Cup,
Munster fans gathered and sang ‘The Fields of Athenry’ in his memory.
Keith Cunningham of the KC Show on Cork’s Red FM
proposed that Munster fans wear their colours on Monday in honour of Foley’s memory and, as of 11am on Monday morning, it has already been met with a fantastic response.
A fitting tribute.
