PICS: Paul O’Connell, Huey Lewis, Niall Horan and Bill Murray form the greatest golf foursome of all time
The competition hasn’t even started yet and already the Ryder Cup has peaked.
We’re sure there will be some memorable match-ups when Europe and Team USA go head to head in Hazeltine this weekend, but we can’t think of a better two-on-two in the history of golf than the match-up in the Ryder Cup Celebrity Matches earlier this week.
For Team Europe, Irish rugby legend Paul O’Connell was joined by One Directioner Niall Horan to do battle against a USA team made up of, wait for it, Huey Lewis (of Huey Lewis and the News fame) and the great Bill Murray.
The pictures are just as great as you’d expect.
O’Connell is believed to have delivered an inspirational address to the European troops ahead of their effort to retain the Ryder Cup this weekend.
Modest to a fault, O’Connell said he kept it “short and sweet” but European captain Darren Clarke was far more effusive in his praise, saying that O’Connell was “exceptional” and that “you could have heard a pin drop” during his speech.
Roll on the action from Friday onwards.
