PICS: Someone who is not a Dublin fan has updated the 2016 All-Ireland Championship Wikipedia page

Conor Heneghan

Where their loyalties lie we’re not quite sure but it certainly isn’t Dublin.

Sunday’s provincial finals didn’t contain quite as much excitement as we might have hoped, but with only 12 teams left and a knockout format from now on, the All-Ireland Football Championship could be about to take flight.

Dublin, of course, are the hot favourites to retain Sam Maguire and as far as Wikipedia is concerned (for the time being at least), we might as well hand Sam over to Stephen Cluxton now and be done with it.

It’s not likely to stay as it is for long, but as of Monday morning, the 2016 All-Ireland Championship page on Wikipedia has declared the Dubs as the All-Ireland Champions despite a 3-21 – 0-8 defeat to Kerry in the All-Ireland semi-final and a highly controversial win over Mayo in the quarters.

There are also dubious claims made about Dublin receiving 89% of the funding from Central Council and accusations that Dublin fans don’t attend club matches, but tongue in cheek though it might be, we can’t see it remaining on Wikipedia for too long.

Shots fired all the same.
