The definition of a game of two halves, as France beat Ireland 2-1.
It was all going so well for the Boys in Green after a terrific first half display put us 1-0 up and in the driving seat at half-time.
However, France came out a different team in the second period, as did Ireland.
The game quickly turned sour, when Antoine Griezmann’s superb header levelled the match in the 57th minute, before the Atlético Madrid forward added a second just four minutes later.
It was a tough pill to swallow.
Ah bollocks. 1-1 #IRLFRA

Five minutes later, the situation went from bad to worse when Shane Duffy was given a straight red card after taking down Griezmann, who was clean through on goal.
That all went to hell pretty fast. Balls. #IRLFRA

We've had great chances. Need to put in the tackles and get France out of their rhythm. Huge ask now unfortunately #FRAIRL #COYBIG #IRLFRA

The injustice of it all…Ireland should have had a corner before #FRA scored. Can we have $5m compensation? Where's Sepp? ? #COYBIG ??

Still only a goal in it. There's still time. #COYBIG

Ireland continued to battle, but gradually ran out of steam.
Our Euro dream slipped away, but the spirit remained throughout.
Our lads look dead on their feet to be fair.. France the better team but twice the turnaround time is massive #IRLFRA #COYBIG

Also, the commitment that put Ireland so close to glory in first half really costing them now. Have looked wrecked for a long time.
