Pics: Yes, that’s rugby sevens superstar Carlin Isles playing hurling in Limerick

Any chance he might make an appearance against Kilkenny in Croker on Sunday?

Any chance he might make an appearance against Kilkenny in Croker on Sunday?

The short answer to the above question is no as we are informed by our Limerick sources that Carlin isn’t quite as comfortable with a hurley and sliotar as he is with an oval ball in hand, but at least he was willing to give it a try when he was in UL promoting the Limerick World Club Sevens tournament, which takes place in Thomond Park this weekend.

A group of Limerick under-17 hurlers tried to show one of the fastest men in the world how to play the fastest sport in the world on the UL campus and while his touch mightn’t have been up to much, we doubt there are many corner backs in the country who’d like to try and mark him all the same.

Carlin will be lining out for New York, who are one of a number of very strong looking outfits set to play in the two-day tournament; the likes of the Blue Bulls from South Africa, Saracens from England, Stade Francais from France and of course, Munster, will also be represented.

All in all it promises to be a great event in the Treaty City. For more information, check out the event website and if you’d like to head along you can still snap up tickets on Ticketmaster here.
