Premier League scorecast: Can Liverpool bounce back against Arsenal?

Bums are starting to squeak down by the Mersey

Bums are starting to squeak down by the Mersey.

A week is a long time in football and two weeks can feel like an eternity. Almost a fortnight ago, the unstoppable juggernaut that was Liverpool’s top four assault came to a shuddering halt at home to their most bitter rivals, Manchester United.

They were out-thought and lucky to escape with a 2-1 defeat. That defeat at Anfield was Liverpool’s first since suffering a 3-0 defeat to the same side at Old Trafford.

Arsenal on the other hand, have hit their usual Champions League form and are hot on the heels of Manchester City in second place. They won’t have enjoyed being knocked out of the Champions League, but they know that in the Premier League, they are one of the form teams.

This is a huge match in the context of the top four chase and we feel that there will be nothing to separate the sides. Olivier Giroud is banging in goals for fun at the moment and we reckon he can grab the first goal in a 1-1 draw. You can get odds of 25/1 for that to happen.
