Premier League Scorecast: Tottenham v Manchester United

JOE previews the big game

Winning ugly has become a speciality of these two sides.

Only recently have United’s performances matched their results, while Spurs’ recent victories against Burnley and particularly Leicester have been master-classes in daylight robbery.

However, it’s neither Louis Van Gaal nor Mauricio Pochettino’s job to entertain the masses. It’s their job to get three points and both have been doing their job very well in recent weeks.

Tottenham were lucky to get away with anything against Leicester, never mind the win. The Foxes should have had a penalty and were unlucky to hit the post on a couple of occasions.

You can only ride your luck so far though, which could prove to be  fortunate for the Red Devils especially since they have started to look far more clinical in recent matches.

They put Liverpool and Newcastle to the sword in the last few weeks and we fancy them to the same against Spurs here.

There are many things you can question about Wayne Rooney; his loyalty, his desire and his hairline. But you can’t question his talent.

His two goals against Newcastle further underlined his resurgence under the philosophical Dutchman. Although he is now playing in a slightly deeper role, he remains a lethal goal threat.

We fancy him to score first here today and United to win 3-1. This pays at a price of 50/1.
