Ahead of the eagerly awaited replay this Saturday, let’s relive the brilliant ending to the first game between Clare and Cork, with added Marty.

‘An instant classic’ was how many dubbed the drawn game between Clare and Cork two-and-a-half weeks ago. Okay, the first half was a touch scrappy, but the second half was champagne stuff as Clare tried to pull away on numerous occasions before Cork pegged them back each time with goals.

The Rebels, after being outplayed for much of the 70 minutes, managed to steal the lead in injury time, thanks to a Patrick Horgan point but the Banner would not be denied, as Domhnall O’Donovan, a corner back who had never scored a Championship point in his life, nailed an incredible equaliser from right under the Cusack Stand.

It was fantastic to watch on TV, but the RTE Radio 1 commentary, delivered by Clare man Marty Morrissey was even better. Thanks to The Clare Herald’s YouTube page, the images and Marty’s commentary have been synched so that you can enjoy both.

We fully expect to see a lot of ‘Holy Moses’ t-shirts on Jones Road on Saturday night. Let’s hope the game, and the commentary, in Clare/Cork II matches the first clash.
