The consensus seems to be that David McGoldrick has been unlucky to miss out.
Ireland’s squad for 2016 was named on Tuesday night, following the 2-1 defeat to Belarus in a warm-up match at Turner’s Cross.

The biggest talking point was the inclusion of captain Robbie Keane – who has been struggling with injury – as well as the omission of Ipswich Town’s David McGoldrick.

Tough on David Forde; started the campaign as No.1, dropped v Poland, overlooked when Given injured v Germany and now not going to the euros

Sorry to see #Forde #Gibson & #McGoldrick miss out. Hopefully rest up, support the lads & get ready to offer something in the next campaign

McGoldrick should be in squad for me! Murphy is at nothing , McGeady is far too weak! Anyway, BRING ON THE EUROS !! 🇮🇪🇮🇪

Cannot believe @FAIreland have cut McGoldrick, foolish offers them something totally different

Squad seems a bit light on options up front. Would have taken McGoldrick along for that reason

A thought for Forde, Arter (injured), O'Kane, McGoldrick & Gibson who didn't quite make it #Euro2016
