Real Madrid have a buy-back option on Mesut Ozil, according to leaked document

Tony Cuddihy

Arsenal must inform Real Madrid if they ever plan on selling Mesut Ozil to another Spanish club.

The Football Leaks website has released the contract between Arsenal and Real Madrid from the signing of Ozil back in 2013.

The document states that Arsenal must inform Real Madrid of any offer they have received from another Spanish club, and Real would have 48 hours to decide whether or not to match or better it, or up to noon on the final day of the transfer window.

Ozil signed for Arsenal for £44m, rising to £50m. Should Arsenal sell Ozil for more than £50m, then Real would be entitled to 33% of the profit from any prospective transfer.

An Arsenal spokesman said: “We don’t discuss contracts of any of our players.”
