Cork City’s Brian Lenihan has been discharged from hospital after a scan showed he did not sustain a serious injury against Bohemians last night.

Lenihan lost consciousness after a bad fall at Dalymount Park and was taken to the Mater Hospital for treatment.

The 20-year-old went down after competing with Paddy Kavanagh in the air, landing awkwardly and suffering concussion.

There was a lengthy delay and much concern at the plight of the highly rated defender – linked with a move to Arsenal during pre-season – but Cork released a statement this afternoon confirming he was ok.

“The club would like to thank the medical staff who attended to Brian, the staff at the Mater Hospital and Bohemian FC for their assistance following the incident,” the statement read.
