Manchester City are set to test Liverpool's resolve to keep Raheem Sterling with an improved bid of £50m.

City know they need to bring in top, young English talent and are prepared to raise their bid for Sterling by £10m after their last offer of £40m was rejected by Liverpool. Brendan Rodgers would likely accept a bid of £50m for a player whose form went out the window as he started agitating for a move towards the end of the season. City are also expected to bid £40m to bring Jack Wilshere to the Etihad Stadium from Arsenal. Elsewhere, Manchester United look likely to make a bid for Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, as his deal in Bavaria enters its final year, while Liverpool are interested in two strikers  - Juventus' Fernando Llorente and Carlos Bacca of Sevilla.
