Wow…

Katie Taylor is reportedly stepping away from amateur boxing in a bid to pursue a professional career, and she could be fighting as early as next month.

According to Kevin Byrne of The Sun, Taylor has made her decision and will box at Wembley Arena in London on November 26.

Taylor is one of the most decorated amateur boxers in the world and holds an Olympic gold medal from London 2012 as well as five World Championship golds.

Her bout next month is to be promoted by Matchroom Sports boss Eddie Hearn according to Kevin Byrne, a man who has been keen to secure the signature of Taylor for a number of years.

Hull’s Tommy Coyle headlines the fight card in a clash with Essex junior welter John Wayne Hibbert, but Katie Taylor will certainly add a little something extra to proceedings.

The Bray fighter who turned 30 in July, suffered heartbreak at the 2016 Rio Olympics when she was beaten in the quarter-finals by Mira Potkonen of Finland.

She is expected to announce details on her plans including news on her trainer and her promotional deal over the coming days.
