People can be so cruel.
Liverpool’s Europa League dream came crashing down before their eyes on Wednesday in a wretched second-half display in Basel, as they allowed Sevilla to comeback from 1-0 down to win 3-1.
It was a difficult result to take after a wonderful European campaign and a first-half performance that promised so much.
In fact, at the break there only looked to be one winner.
Alas, these things happen.
Sevilla have stunning recent pedigree in the competition and in the end no one could deny that they were worthy winners of what was once the UEFA Cup.
Understandably, there was tears both on and off the pitch.
The TV cameras happened to focus in on one Liverpool supporter in particular and, within minutes, he was trending on the internet.
Little did/does he know that rival fans everywhere was gleefully sharing his tearful image, and using it to mock his defeated team.
