Roy Keane has a pop at Sherwood and Benteke in new updated chapter of his book

Say what you mean Roy.

Roy Keane has updated his autobiography and the sparkling new bits are vintage Keano.

The Daily Mail have published extracts from the book and of course, it’s going to set tongues wagging.

Keane, of course,  was former assistant at Villa to Paul Lambert, the man Tim Sherwood replaced, and he had some interesting thoughts about Villa’s new boss.

“I went to watch Villa against Bournemouth in the FA Cup a few weeks before Paul was sacked and Tim Sherwood was sitting behind me. I just thought, ‘All right.

“Some men go to matches if they think there’s a job there for them. I believe Tim had been at two or three games.

“It’s not a criticism of Tim. It’s part of the game, it’s the industry we’re in.

“I’d go the other way myself. If I thought the manager was under pressure and I was somehow being linked to the job, I’d avoid the place.”

On Christian Benteke, he had this to say:

“He wasn’t one for scoring many goals in training. With all the top strikers I’d worked with, the top ones always loved scoring in training.”

Villa have enjoyed a huge renaissance under the stewardship of Sherwood thanks in no small way to the goals of Benteke, but the man from Mayfield remains suitably unimpressed.

The updated version of Roy Keane’s autobiography ‘The Second Half’ will be published later this month.
