Only Roy Keane could possibly see the negative side to Liverpool’s 5-0 win over Porto

Even for Keano, this was some quality grouchiness.

Roy Keane can truly suck the joy out of anything, and even Liverpool’s 5-0 demolition of FC Porto in the Champions League on Wednesday night didn’t quell the former Manchester United captain’s grumpier inclinations.

Having seen Jurgen Klopp’s side make absolute bits of the Portuguese team, Keane stuck the boot into both Liverpool and Tottenham for their trophy haul over the last decade.

The Reds’ last trophy win came with the League Cup under Kenny Dalglish in 2012, while Spurs have not won anything since claiming the same trophy a full ten years ago.

It’s “embarrassing,” says Ireland’s assistant manager.

Speaking on ITV after Wednesday night’s game, Keane said: “For a club the size of Liverpool and Tottenham, one trophy in ten years is I think pretty embarrassing.

“I know the Champions League has taken over now and the money behind it, but success for club like that is getting your hands on trophies.

“Clubs like Liverpool and Spurs should be able to qualify for the Champions League and win a League Cup or an FA Cup.

“These clubs with these squads should get to the knock-out stages of the Champions League and win an FA Cup or a League Cup as well. That should go hand in hand.”
