Amazing players on show, amazing cause to raise funds for.

Roy Keane will be lacing up his boots in Leeside again after it was announced that Manchester United and Celtic will take part in a once-off game featuring legends from both clubs in support of the late Liam Miller.

Aside from Keane, fellow Corkonian Dennis Irwin will also be playing in front of a home crowd as they pay tribute to their former Irish colleague.

As you may know, Miller sadly passed away earlier this year following a battle with pancreatic cancer. Throughout his distinguished career, he played for both Manchester United, Celtic, Sunderland and Cork City among others. He also won 26 caps for Ireland.

Miller is survived by his wife Clare and his three children Kory, Leo and Belle.

The game itself will take place at Turner’s Cross on Tuesday, September 25 and all funds will be used to help support Miller’s wife and children.

As for the list of players expected to take part, it reads like a who’s who of Old Trafford icons with a core group of the ’99 treble-winning squad playing.

Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt, Ronny Johnsen, Paul Scholes, Denis Irwin, Jaap Stam, David May, Louis Saha and Rio Ferdinand will be led by their former skipper, Roy Keane.

As for the Celtic team, Martin O’Neill will take charge of the Bhoys again and he’s going to have his squad bolstered by some Republic of Ireland greats.

Robbie Keane, Damien Duff, Stephen Carr, Kevin Doyle, Keith Andrews, Kenny Cunningham, Kevin Kilbane, Stephen McPhail and Colin Healy are all expected to feature.

Match tickets will cost €50 per person and they’re going on sale through Ticketmaster soon. We expect to see Turners Cross absolutely wedged as they pay tribute to one of their most famous sons.
