Ruud van Nistelrooy on Roy Keane’s greatest quality, Ronaldo and his best mate at Man United

Ruuuuuuuuud

Conor Heneghan

Want to hear the Dutch legend’s thoughts on the beautiful game? It would be Ruud not to.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are neck and neck at the top of the Champions’ League all-time leading scorers’ list at the moment, but it won’t take you long to find the name of ‘Ruud van Nistelrooy’ a little further down.

The Dutchman scored 62 goals in the world’s most elite club football competition in spells with Heerenveen, PSV Eindhoven, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Hamburg and will go down as one of the modern era’s deadliest finishers.

Last night, Ruud was in Mexico City and took over the Heineken Twitter account during his former club Real Madrid’s loss to Juventus in the Champions’ League semi-finals.

Ruud posted his thoughts about the game itself and other issues, such as the form of Messi, Neymar and Suarez at Barcelona, Cristiano Ronaldo’s development into the player he is today, his best mate at Manchester United and what made Roy Keane so great.

Check out some of his best responses below.
