It’s an outrage, an outrage we tells ya.

It’s an outrage, an outrage we tells ya.

Until the balmy temperatures of mid-summer arrive (we’ll believe that when we see it), supporters of League of Ireland clubs around the country would require a few essentials when heading to watch their team in action of a Friday evening.

A warm coat is a given, a scarf would be required on a particularly cold night and a cup of tea to warm the cockles would also be an essential part of many a fan’s routine.

Unfortunately, supporters of Shelbourne and Wexford Youths were unable to avail of said cup of tea on Friday night at Tolka Park as there was none available due to circumstances completely out of the control of the home side.

In fairness to the folks at Shels, they were good enough to apologise for the lack of tea with a warm and good-natured statement on their website which read: “Apologies, to all those who regularly purchase the cups of tea from the Reds Shop at Tolka Park, for the unavailability of your ‘cuppa’ on Friday night.

“Due to circumstances completely outside of our control, we were unable to provide this service at the Wexford Youths game.

“We fully expect to be up-and-running again for the game v Bray Wanderers on Monday night – and look forward to supplying you all, once more, with that reviving ‘cuppa’.”

Although no light was shed on the exact circumstances that were out of Shelbourne’s control, unsubstantiated reports suggest that the lady below might have had something to do with it…
