Her daughter won a silver medal at the European Athletics U18 Championships on Saturday.
Sonia O’Sullivan is one of Ireland’s finest ever athletes.
She will always be talked about when discussing the most successful sports stars the country has produced.
Her list of achievements and accolades would put most to shame, but nowadays she’s happy enough to be watching her daughter from the sidelines.
Sophie O’Sullivan has followed in her mother’s footsteps, and is doing a pretty good job of it too.
The 16-year-old won a silver medal on Saturday in Hungary at the European Athletics U18 Championships.

O’Sullivan raced in the 800m race, and had an extremely strong finish to the delight of her mother who watched on in the stands.
The Cork woman was a bag of nerves throughout the entirety of the race, but looked absolutely chuffed when Sophie made it into second place.

She can hardly stand still throughout the entire race, and she’s nearly jumping on to the race-track by the end of it.
We hope that this is just the beginning of a successful career for Sophie, who is still only 16.
We’ll be keeping an eye on her anyway.
