A parrot singing ‘The Fields of Athenry’ is the best video you will see this weekend

COYBIG.

JOE

Parrot

Number one ‘SuParroter’.

You can be sure that there will be many unique and loud versions of this song on repeat in Denmark as the Irish invade Copenhagen for the weekend but none will be as special as this.

Think about it though, if you had a pet parrot and a weekend as gigantic as this was coming up, you’d be spending the whole week previous teaching them a book full of Irish songs to belt out on request.

We are deadly serious when we say that this is absolutely brilliant.

If it’s not appearing properly in the article, you can see it here.

The post was put up on Facebook by Hello Escobar (yes, the parrot even has his own Facebook page) and somehow only has 956 views at the time of posting this article.

The biography for Escobar’s social media account reads: “Hi! My name is Escobar. I am an endangered double yellow headed amazon parrot of Mexico and northern Central America but I was born in Ireland.”

The gusto at which Escobar belts out ‘Low, Lie’ wouldn’t go amiss in the Irish section of the stadium on Saturday in Copenhagen.

Is Escobar’s version of the iconic song as good as this stripped-back version of ‘The Fields of Athenry’ performed in a French train station?

Or does the Connacht players and fans celebrating their Pro 12 victory with an incredible rendition of ‘The Fields of Athenry’ in An Púcán in Galway beat both Escobar and the boys at the train station?

Aren’t we just so blessed to have so many great versions of such a special song, eh?

Just to make sure that you know, Ireland take on Denmark 11 November in the first of two crucial play-off games for the World Cup.

As Denmark Captain, Simon Kjaer, said these matches mean that one team will fly into heaven while the other will lose out and slip into hell.

Cheers to Valerie O’Mahony and Kevin Lawler for sending this our way. Got a story for JOE? Hit us up on Facebook or Twitter, send it to our WhatsApp number 087-4001102 or mail [email protected].
